New Delhi: A technical glitch in Delhi Metro's Violet Line caused inconvenience to hundreds of passengers, delaying movement of trains for several minutes, late Saturday afternoon.
While officials are yet to confirm whether the delay was caused by the storm, sources said the glitch was reported and affected services between Mandi House and Kashmere Gate stations.
Trains travelling on the stretch connecting Escorts Mujesar and Kashmere Gate were delayed, while several commuters were stranded on the Metro platforms for a long duration.
The glitch, which was reported around 3 pm, also led to swelling of crowds on several stations on the Violet Line. To add to the woes of passengers, the trains even took time travelling between stations and halted on each station between stations for several minutes.
"I was stuck at Mandi House Metro station, where the train took more than the usual time. I even reached earlier than I usually do, but technical glitches are occurring more regularly these days in Delhi Metro," said an incensed commuter.
Several other passengers expressed their dismay over the delay, as the trains kept announcing that "there will be a short delay in services."
Earlier this month, services on the same line had been affected on the morning of May 4, for around 90 minutes, due to a technical glitch between Kashmere Gate and Central Secretariat stations.
