Gurugram: Sanjay, a special police officer (SPO) with Gurugram police, succumbed to his injuries on Sunday night after a bike by which he was travelling was hit by a speeding truck.
The driver of the motorcycles identified as Satyendar, a constable in Gurugram police has also sustained severe injuries and is being treated at a private hospital in the city. As per doctors, his condition is said to be stable.
Meanwhile, the driver of the cantor who escaped after the incient is still at large. The incident occured at Golf Course extension road on Sunday night when the two law enforcement offcials were doing their duty and were moving around the area for patrolling.
Suddenly a fast moving truck hit their vehicle from behind that caused Satyendra losing his balance and in effect hitting the divider.
"This is the case of hit and run where we have lost one of our officials. We have registered the case and have begun ours for the truck driver. We will get hold of him soon. We will also ensure that there will no stone unturned in providing support to Sanjay's family," said a senior police official from Gurugram police.
Belonging from Sherpur Village in Pataudi, 41-year-old Sanjay had spent 18 years serving in Indian Army. After retiring from the Defence forces he joined Gurugram police as an SPO in September 2015. His cremation rights will be carried out in his village in Pataudi.
