Special team to keep tabs on passengers alighting from wrong side of train

New Delhi: The Northern Railways has formed a special team under RPF Inspector of Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway Station Kishan Kumar to keep an eye on passengers alighting from the wrong side of the train when they arrive or depart.

The decision comes after an analysis of laptop and mobile lifting incidents showed that such offenders often deboard from the wrong side of the train to avoid being caught.

This pattern was noticed after reviewing CCTV footage of these incidents. In fact, such teams are already being effective. Recently, a laptop thief was nabbed by RPF officials within four minutes of stealing the laptop, when Const. Satyendra Yadav saw the accused deboard from the wrong side of the train on the live CCTV stream.

Further, it was found that the accused was a habitual laptop-lifter and solved a total of four laptop thefts in the process, recovering three stolen purses as well.

SC Jain, DRM of the Delhi Division said that detection of crime with live monitoring is an example of the high-level of professionalism we are bringing to the table. It will immensely help is in containing such crimes in trains.
