New Delhi: A six-year-old girl was sexually assaulted in the Central Delhi area. Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) claimed that she is in a critical condition as her internal organs have been severely damaged. Police claimed that they have arrested one accused in the case.
DCW Chairperson Swati Maliwal on Monday visited the rape survivor who is currently undergoing treatment in ICU of a government hospital in Delhi. The women commission claimed that on 14 July, the 6-year-old girl was allegedly kidnapped by a eunuch while she was playing near the Kali Mandir, Minto Road. The family was living on the footpath near the Kali Mandir.
The DCW further added that after being unable to find her, her parents raised an alarm and reported her as missing. The girl was found around 11.30 pm at night in a pool of blood and was rushed to the hospital. She was seriously injured and was bleeding profusely. The girl was operated and the operation lasted for over four hours. Presently, she is in a critical condition as her internal organs have been damaged. She may take a long time to recover from the brutal assault.
"Her parents are from a very poor background. Her father is a rickshaw puller and her stepmother is a beggar. The DCW Chief interacted with the doctors and the parents of the child," said the official. The DCW is releasing immediate monetary help and will take steps to ensure rehabilitation of the girl. Further, the Commission will be filing an application in the Court for the release of compensation to the victim. DCW Chairperson Swati Maliwal said, "The child is in a very bad condition. I am horrified to meet her. This is one of the worst cases I have come across so far and the problem becomes even more grave considering that the girl is homeless. The Commission will ensure her rehabilitation and I request people to support us in the same."
Further, the DCW chief appealed to the Prime Minister to implement the provisions of the recently passed ordinance urgently and stringently and ensure that the guilty are given the death penalty in this matter in the next 3 months.
