NEW DELHI: A day after a 25-year-old man was stabbed to death in a mall in West Delhi, police on Tuesday arrested five persons and apprehended one juvenile
Police came to know that all the accused were at a club in the mall, where the victim had arrived to celebrate his birthday, and a sudden fight between him and the accused led to the stabbing.
According to police, Sajjan had reached West Gate mall with his friends around 5 pm on Sunday to celebrate his birthday. The victim and his friends were dancing in Toast Club inside the mall, when Sajjan's elbow accidentally hit Imran, one of the accused. Imran confronted Sajjan and it soon led to a brawl.
Imran called his younger brother Saleem, along with the other accused, who stabbed Sajjan to death. Police claimed that the accused stabbed Sajjan multiple times, but none of the victim's friends tried to rescue him. His friends told cops that Sajjan had begged the accused not to kill him.
Police soon conducted raids at possible hideouts of the accused and nabbed them all.
Along with Imran and Saleem the four other accused are Samar, Aleem and Abid, and a juvenile, who has been apprehended.
After killing Sajjan, all the accused fled the spot, most likely from the mall's main entrance. All the accused are the residents of Khyala area and are involved in petty jobs.
Sources told Millennium Post that on Sunday, Sajjan and his friends were consuming alcohol in R K Puram area, and later decided to go to West Gate Mall to celebrate.
Sources said cops are investigating how the accused were able to conceal knifes and bring them into the mall.
