Sharpshooter involved in murder of 3 civil engineers arrested

New Delhi: The Special Cell of Delhi Police arrested a sharpshooter from Nangloi area. The accused was involved in the killings of three civil engineers.

The criminal has also escaped from police custody three times. Police identified the accused as Vikas Jha, a native of Sitamarhi (Bihar). Police said that the accused was wanted in more than 15 cases of murder, attempt to murder, extortion, threatening, assault in Bihar.

He has been arrested during the intervening night of the night of October 16 and 17 from Rajdhani Park, Nangloi.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (special cell) Pramod Kushwah said that the criminal was involved in many broad day shootouts, contract killings with AK-47 and cases of extortions from contractors, engineers in Bihar. Lastly, he had escaped from police custody in August 2019.

The team under ACP (special cell) Attar Singh made the arrest. In the year 2014, he had killed an engineer in Vajapatti District Sitamarhi with the help of his associates at the instance of one Santosh Jha and one Mukesh Pathak.

In the year 2015, Jha along with Santosh, Mukesh, Pintu had killed two more civil engineers with AK-47 as they had refused to pay extortion to him.

Police said that later Mukesh Pathak got Santosh Jha killed in a court complex in Sitamarhi when deceased along with Vikas Jha were being produced in court last year. Pathak wanted to become the leader of the gang. Pathak also wanted to get accused killed in custody.
