New Delhi: South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) has initiated a drive against encroachment in areas of Kotla Mubarakpur, Aruna Asaf Ali Marg, Nelson Mandela Road, Mehrauli, Vasant Kunj, Janakpuri East to Uttam Nagar Chowk. North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) has sealed 21 properties. Action against encroachers are also being taken in all the six zones.
A senior SDMC official said that in Badarpur, the civic body has demolished eight structures built illegally in LIG flats. The official further informed that 185 puuca stairs of shops, 16 large boards and three wooden counters have been demolished at Kotla Mubarakpur and surrounding areas whereas six rehris and three trucks full of articles have also been seized. Further, 64 vehicles have been challaned at Bhishma Pitamah Marg by traffic police for violation of rules, he said.
While SDMC has seized 30 items and 2 rehris in an action at Asif Ali Road and Nelson Mandela Marg to Mehrauki Road and Vasnt Kunj, 15 temporary structures in the form of chhappars and three tin sheds have also been demolished Dakshinpuri, Mahrishi Balmiki Marg and Virat Cinema Road Pushpa Bhavan, the official said.
"The licensing branch Delhi Police and Traffic police also seized 54 vehicles including 31 four-wheelers, 22 two-wheelers, 4 Rehris and 3 items at Janakpuri East Metro Station to Uttam Nagar red light. Further, 39 vehicles were challaned by traffic police for violation of rules," said the official.
North Delhi Municipal Corporation also conducted a drive in all its six zones and seized 260 items including wheel carts and banners.
In the drive, 56 vehicles were also impounded besides 60 challans were issued by the traffic police.
