Gaur Chowk in Greater Noida West witnessed a massive protest held by scores of residents against Mahagun builder for demanding extra and improper charges for farmer's compensation and other facilities by the builder on Sunday.
The protest was held under the banner of Noida Extension Flat Owner's Main Association (NEFOMA). The homebuyers claimed that in the past the builder had declared that no extra money will be charged.
The homebuyers blamed Mahagun Builders for charging extra money. Around 750 buyers have invested their entire savings to buy a home under the project, Mahagun Mywood in Greater Noida West.
A protester said: "We stood with the builder during his hard days when the farmers were demanding extra compensation. Soon, we decided to cooperate. After this act, the builder promised to free us of any extra amount in future. Now, he is demanding lakhs of rupees for farmer's compensation, parking charges, EWS and registry." The buyers have warned of a greater protest outside the builder's office if their problems remain unheard.
"We had booked the flats in 2010. We are already hand to mouth owing to the delay in possession with the dual burden of EMIs and Rent", said Jamal Nakwi, one of the homebuyers.
Anu Khan, founder of NEFOMA, said, "The farmer's compensation is between farmer and builder. We will soon lodge a complaint against to the concerned authority and state government."
