Gurugram: The proposed Gurugram Metro is likely to be extended and connected with the Rapid Metro as well as Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) near Udyog Vihar, said sources in GMDA.
The authority is currently conducting a feasibility study for setting up stations on the connecting route. The Gurugram Metro corridor will start from Huda City Centre and end at Sector 23, whereas RRTS will start in Delhi and pass through Udyog Vihar to reach Manesar and Pachgaon.
According to GMDA officials, there is a proposal to extend the metro line and connect it with a Rapid Metro station near DLF CyberHub.
"There is a plan to connect the three lines for the convenience of commuters and provide seamless connectivity. The Gurugram Metro line might be extended from Sector 23 to connect it with Rapid Metro, providing a connection with RRTS near the Delhi border or Udyog Vihar on the way," a senior GMDA official told on Thursday.
While the official was tight-lipped about which Rapid Metro station would be connected with the metro line, the nearest Rapid Metro station is likely to be either Cyber City or Moulsari Avenue, both of which are near Udyog Vihar.
Asked about stations on the route and the total length of the link between Sector 23 and the Rapid Metro, he said the authority is currently conducting a feasibility study of the project.
"Since the distance between the two places is only around 5km, there won't be more than 3-4 stations," said the official.
