Retired IPS officer's identity proof used by drug peddlers in Ghaziabad

Ghaziabad: A retired senior IPS officer, who had earlier been posted as police chief in Ghaziabad district, has been forged by some unidentified persons as they used his Aadhar card for shipping drugs to USA.

Subhash Chandra Gupta, the retired IPS officer and a resident of Sector 9 in Vasundhara area of Ghaziabad, said that he had received an envelope containing drugs which got returned to his address on being un-delivered in USA.

"I had received an undelivered envelope by the name of my father KM Gupta, as sender, enclosing with some tablets and a photo copy of my Aadhar card. My father is no more with us while I am also totally unaware with the packet," said Gupta.

"Upon asking one of my friends, who is also a doctor, he told me that these tablets are under as drugs while the envelope was returned at my address on getting undelivered in USA, as it mentioned my identity proof," added

Gupta.

The officer further said that he has no clue as who has misused his identity proof while the mobile number mentioned on the envelope was also never linked with him or any of his family members.

"I was shocked to see the envelope and how my identity proof went into the hands of some unknown persons who used it for peddling drugs abroad. We also tried the mobile number written on the envelope which went invalid while as when we searched it on true caller, it flashed name of some Priya Durgapal from Jammu and Kashmir," added Gupta.

Meanwhile police official said that they have registered a case into the matter and investigations are on.

"Based on the complaint received, a case under Indian Penal code (IPC) section 420 (cheating and dishonestly including delivery of property) has been registered against unidentified persons. This is a rare case and it's a matter of investigation as how the identity proof went into the wrong hands."

"We will try and trace the source of these drugs while further probe is on," said Shlok Kumar, Superintendent of police (city),

Ghaziabad.

Gupta has served the Ghaziabad district as Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) in year 1997 and was retired at IG rank from Uttar Pradesh police in 2008.
