New Delhi: The Special Cell of Delhi Police has written to all districts, units related to the shortcomings in security they found during their checking in sensitive areas in the city. Police sources said that more than 50 such places had security defects. Sources told Millennium Post that the letter was sent from the office of Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Cell).
Quoting letter content, sources said keeping in view the increased threat from various terrorist groups to create disturbances. several teams of Special Cell are undertaking the exercise of combing the sensitive areas.
During checking on July 1 and 2 several shortcomings were been noticed in various hotels, guest houses, busy markets, taxi stands, parking lots, cyber cafes, PG accommodations, cinema halls, malls.
"Special Cell told districts and units that local police officials under their jurisdiction may be advised to brief the concerned to rectify these defects accordingly and a compliance report to this effect may kindly be sent to this office for the perusal of senior officers," sources said adding that the copies of the letter were sent to Special CP Law and Order (North) and (South) and SO to Commissioner of Police.
Sources said that in more than 50 places, police found security defects like CCTV footages were not preserved, DFMD not installed, inverted mirror not used for checking, parking staff were not wearing inform, abandoned vehicle found.
"In one of the cases, the license of the hotel is due to renewal. And also no proper entry in the register. The police team also found that identity proof of visitors not collected properly and no visitor register maintained in one of the cyber cafes," sources said.
The city police has started their preparation related to security arrangements for the upcoming Independence Day. The Delhi Police Headquarters have already told senior officers to maintain a vigil on the suspicious movements in the city.
