NEW DELHI: Traffic was disrupted at various points in Delhi despite Delhi Traffic Police issuing a detailed advisory on diversions at varrious points due to full dress rehearsal of the Republic Day parade on Tuesday. The conjestion was seen at Pusa road, Noida to Akshardhamam, DND flyover which connects Noda to Delhi. Also, traffic jam was seen at Zoological Park caused several traffic jams in parts of New Delhi.
Commuters faced difficulties in crossing the DND flyway which connects Delhi with Noida. The jam extended from Ashram Chowk till the DND flyway. Delhi Traffic Police has started issuing live traffic updates on Twitter while many commuters have complained they reported late to work because of congestion on roads. "I have been struck on Shanti Path since what seems like a decade ." said Kaveri, a commuter.
Though the Delhi Traffic police updated its followers through regulaar updates on twitter, jingles on FM radio, however it seems many commuters were caught off guard and were struck up at different stretches leading to Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, Vijay Chowk and Red fort. There were also reports of sevral Bus breakdown leading to dioversionnof the traffic and obstruction in smooth passage. "Traffic was heavy from Akshardham towads Sarai Kale Khanand Ashram towards Nizamuddin due to ongoing civic work." tweeted the Traffic Police. Traffic was also heavy from Peeraghari to Mongolpuri and also from Mayur Vihar to Noida," said a traffic official.
Slight rain on Tuesday also affected the Delhi traffic for a brief time and the Traders bandh called on Tuesday to protest agaisnt the ongoing sealing drive. The protests of traders also haulted traffic at certain points in Delhi.
