Prime accused in murder of siblings arrested in Najafgarh

NEW DELHI: The Delhi Police on Saturday said they have arrested Naveen Kumar, the last and prime accused in the sensational double murder of a brother and sister in south west Delhi's Chhawla on March 5.

On June 19, a tip-off was received by cops that Kumar would be found near Old Khaira road in Najafgarh at night.

Eventually, a Delhi Police team reached the spot and arrested Kumar, a resident of Delhi's Ghumman Hera village.

During sustained interrogation, he revealed that deceased Anita Yadav and her brother Jaikishan were killed over a dispute on around five bigha of land in the same village.

On March 5, a PCR call was received at Chhawla regarding Yadav being shot in Ghumman Hera village Najafgarh.

Local police reached at the spot and took Yadav to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared her brought dead.

It was soon found out that her neighbor Naveen Kumar and his associates were involved in the shootout and she had been shot at from point blank range.

Her son, who was also present at the spot, and was lucky to escape, as the pistol's used by the accused had malfunctioned.

Yadav's wife Ashok Kumar recorded his statement, alleged that his wife had been killed by their neighbor Naveen Kumar and his associates.

A day after Yadav's death, a dead body was recovered from Sadar Bahadurgarh area, and the deceased man was identified as Jaikishan, Anita's brother.
