Police also recovered his clothes that he had burnt and will be sending them for a forensic examination. The accused person's police custody is ending on Friday and the investigators are not likely to seek an extension of police custody in the court. After killing the woman, Army major Nikhil Handa continued to mislead the investigators even as he was taken to different areas to ascertain the places he visited after the incident. The police claimed that the accused had also planned to flee to Agra after the crime but due to awareness of topography, he choose Meerut for the hideout.

The victim's body was found with her throat slit near Brar Square in the Delhi Cantonment area on Saturday. Initially, the police was informed that a woman had died in an accident. But later, when they inspected the body, it was found that her throat was slit. The accused had allegedly run his car over her face and the body in order to make the incident appear as an accident.
