NEW DELHI: Delhi Police detained two Bangladeshi nationals during a special drive to identify unauthorised foreign residents. Acting on a tip-off, police arrested Abdul Ahad (22) from Sylhet, who entered India on 6 December seeking work, and Azizul (32) from Dhaka, in India since 2004.

Both lacked valid documents and were handed over to the FRRO for deportation.

This year, South-East District Police have checked 916 individuals, detaining eight illegal immigrants, including six Bangladeshis. Authorities stressed compliance with the Foreigners Act, 1946, requiring landlords to register foreign tenants with the FRRO and maintain proper records, warning of legal action

for violations.
