Pay more attention to grievance redressal at police stations, t op cop tells DCPs
New Delhi: The Delhi Police Commissioner Amulya Patnaik, in a crime review meeting, directed the district DCsP to give more attention to grievance redressal at the police stations.
Police sources told Millennium Post that the meeting was held in August at Delhi Police headquarters (PHQ). He emphasised that grievance redressal at the police station is an area where district DCsP need to pay more attention.
"DCsP were told that every SHO should be clearly instructed to ensure the complaints are redressed at the police station level. The Public Facilitation Officers (PFOs) should help the people and contribute in redressing their grievances properly," sources added.
Adding further, sources said," Joint CsP (Ranges) were asked to monitor the disposal of PCR calls and complaints at district and police station levels."
The police chief, in the meeting, further told that district DCsP should identify and go through the standing orders which address critical areas and ensure meticulous compliance of those standing orders at the district and police station level.
He directed that the DCsP should analyze the crime trends, within their respective districts.
The police chief also discussed corrective measures which should be taken in districts. "Additional force provided to the districts should be used appropriately for patrolling in crime-prone areas. Senior formations should also be tasked to check the staff by surprise," sources further said.
District DCsP were told to make concerned strategies to create a deterrent impact on criminals moving with firearms in their areas.
"It was also discussed among senior officials that there should be a system identifying the juveniles who are actively involved in crime for suitable corrective action. Identified proposals of MCOCA should be taken to their logical conclusion by the end of this month. Special CP (crime) and Joint CP (special cell) should work on this," added sources.
He further directed that the Joint CsP (ranges) and district DCsP should meaningfully do surprise checks of the police stations so as to bring about improvement in police station functioning. He also told officers that in order to bring back the required discipline among the subordinate staff, weekly parades should be regularly conducted in the districts.
