Gurugram: Acting on the advice of the state government, the Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) has currently stayed the process of obtaining enhancement fee from residents of Sector-57, Gurugram, where hundreds of residents had taken to streets to protest against enhancement charge imposed by the Authority.
The court had recently said that the public agency had purchased land below the market value from villagers and they are required to be compensated.
Sources indicated that Haryana Chief Minister ML Khattar would intervene in the matter and resolve the problems of homebuyers. After the order, HUDA sent a notice to over 3,000 plots owner asking them to pay the extra charge.
Most protestors are claiming that they have already paid a substantial amount of money to purchase the plots and are not in the financial condition to pay more for the same land.
Meanwhile, there are also people who claim that they have not been able to get possession of their plot even after 15 years. In the case filed by one Ravinder Kumar of Sonipat, it was alleged that in a draw held in 2005, he was awarded a 300-square yard plot in Sector-52. Kumar alleged that on his name, someone else was given that residential property.
