New Delhi: After tracking railway trains and raiding more than four places in two states, Delhi Police on Friday said they have finally caught a 29-year-old man accused of killing a woman and her son in Okhla area of south east Delhi.
Police said that the arrest was made from a remote location in Sahebganj district of Jharkhand.
The accused was identified as Babloo Kumar Mondal, a resident of Malda district of West Bengal.
On April 25, Mondal had killed a 29-year-old woman and her son.
During inquiry from the landlord of the residence of the deceased duo, it came to light that the woman and her son had been living in the house, along with her husband Sanjay, for the past eight-ten months.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (South East) Chinmoy Biswal stated that after killing both of them, the accused fled the city by train from Shahdara railway station.
Local residents were questioned and secret informers were also deployed to nab him.
The jhuggi of the deceased was thoroughly scanned and from his accomodation, a school belt was found.
The police team then went to the concerned school at Tughlakabad Extension and the admission form of the deceased child was retrieved from the school. On the basis of further details, the identity of the deceased persons was established.
"We were tracking the accused on the train. He was in contact with a person, who told us that the accused had left several hours ago to Jharkhand," said a police officer.
Cops further stated that when they reached Jharkhand, they had to travel more than 70 kilometers inside a rural area to nab the accused.
After he was located, Mondal first tried to deny any such involvement. However, he soon broke down and confessed to the crime.
The deceased woman and accused were in a live-in relationship, police said.
"Even in the school record of the deceased child, in place of his father's photo, accused Babloo's photo is affixed. For the past few days, there was some confrontation between the deceased woman and the accused, as he suspected her of fidelity, which led to the murder of the woman and her son," Biswal added.
