New Delhi: Transport Minister Kailash Gahlot on Sunday inspected the ongoing training and briefing of 5,000 Civil Defence Volunteers across Delhi ahead of the beginning of the Odd-Even traffic scheme on Monday.

A day-long training and briefing of Civil Defence volunteers who will be deployed across Delhi for smooth implementation of the Odd- Even from November 4 to 15 was being conducted in all revenue districts on Sunday. Gahlot joined the session at the Dwarka Sector 22 DTC depot, accompanied by District Magistrate of South West District and other senior officers.

Gahlot said, "Training and briefing of around 5,000 Civil Defence Volunteers is being conducted in all Revenue Districts in Delhi today. DMs, ADMs, SDMs, and Tehsildars along with Wardens and Chief Wardens of all Districts are participating in this programme."

He also said jackets, placards, and other relevant material has been handed over to the volunteers, which are required for their duties during the Odd-Even.

The Transport minister said, "Civil Defence Volunteers played an important role during the last Odd Even programmes in Delhi. They assist the Traffic Police and guide the public. The government recognises and admires their role."

Civil Defence volunteers will be deployed at all traffic intersections and busy roads in shifts for the assistance of Traffic Police so that people do not face any difficulty during the Odd-Even between 4th to 15th November.
