Gurugram: The cases of burglaries in Gurugram targeting houses have been a major law and order challenge over the years.
However, taking an unusual step the burglars now have targeted a place of worship too.
The brazen incident was reported in wee hours on Monday. The donation box at a famous temple in DLF Phase-3 was taken away by the thieves. A formal complaint has been registered and police have begun investigations.
Interestingly as it is, this is not the first time that the temple has been targeted.
Moreover, the incident came a day after some identified burglars entered a house in Palam Vihar and manhandled a 60-year-old lady owner and stole assets worth Rs 2 lakhs in cash.
In most of the colonies like Palam Vihar, Ardee city, Sushant Lok and Sector -56, residents have complained that burglars are now even targeting houses during daylight.
The perils of daylight robbery came to the forefront earlier last year, when a group of robbers entered a house in Sector-28 and beat up an elderly woman who was alone in the house.
In September last year, a 55-year-old widow was brutally murdered in her Sushant Lok bungalow after suspected burglars ransacked the house.
"As the population of the city increases, crimes like robbery also will be reported on a large scale. We have taken cognisance of it and are taking actions.
"In most of the cases, we have been able to attain success," said a senior police official from Gurugram police.
