Noida's first containerised biogas plant inaugurated by Noida authority in Sector 30
Noida: The Noida Authority, on Friday, inaugurated city's first containerised biomethanisation plant to convert wet waste to cooking gas and compost in sector 30 of Noida. Officials said that 95 per cent funding of the biogas plant has been provided by the authority.
As per a senior Noida authority officer, the plant has been placed under a joint effort from Noida authority and Sector 30 RWA. The total capacity of the plant is to convert 500 kg wet waste daily to cooking and compost.
"The total cost of the plant is approximately Rs 20 lakh from which the Noida authority has funded 19 lakh while rest 1 lakh has been funded by RWA. The company which will be assigned for the operations of the plant will also manage door to door collection of waste from houses. By far this is the first plant in Noida city using such technique," said Rajesh Singh, Officer on Special Duty, Noida Authority.
The inauguration was done by Noida authority CEO, Ritu Maheshwari. Speaking on the occasion, the CEO urged that every RWA and high-rise residential society must place a decentralised solid waste disposal system at their
end.
"We insist more RWAs and other high-rise residential societies to come forward and install compost machine within their compound to ensure segregated waste disposal at their source. This will prevent wet garbage to get dumped at authority's dumping site and together we can overcome the problem of solid waste management and it's disposal in the city," said Maheshwari.
The CEO also appealed to the people to manage segregation of waste at their homes. She said that the residents must ensure to separately dump dry and wet garbage in different bins and dump only segregated garbage at the time of door to door collection.
Meanwhile, the CEO also held a meeting with Noida authority officials and tried to act tough on the issue of door-to-door collection of garbage in Noida.
The CEO directed officials to issue notice to the contractor hired for door-to-door collection of garbage in Noida regarding delay in work.
She also said that if the work of contractor is not found satisfactory, the company will be blacklisted.
