Noida Police raid four fake call centres, 10 held

NOIDA: At least 10 people, including a woman were arrested after four fake-call centres were busted by Noida Police on Wednesday. The raid was conducted after cops received several complaints of financial frauds.
"The accused would dupe scores of people on the pretext of online shopping, assuring them handsome benefits which included Samsung LED TV 32 inches, laptops, Samsung smartphone and other expensive gifts on the purchase of Rs 3000 and over," police officials said.
"However, the accused delivered only the purchased item and the gifts were just to lure thousands of buyers," police added.
Police have seized 40 CPUs, 6 UPS, 9 artificial jewellery, 25 desktop computers, 28 intercoms, 24 keyboards, 1 laptop, 1 pan drive, 9 wrist watches, 2 mobile phones, 4 routers, and Rs 20,000 cash.
"Following several complaints filed by thousands of buyers, raids were conducted at the premises of all the four companies of Wednesday who had similar modus operandi of duping buyers on the name of online shopping.
"In first raid, conducted at PPHR online company in sector-2, four persons including a woman were arrested. They were identified as Sachin, Umar, Imran and Komal" said Love Kumar, superintendent of police, Noida.
"On further interrogating the arrested persons, they told that similar frauds were also operated from other call centres who are connected with them too. Police teams were sent to all these call centres to pursue raids.
"Nandan Ram, Hemant, Santosh Kumar, Shravan Kumar and Vikram Thakur were arrested from Fashion on Deal in sector 2 while Sonu Kumar was arrested in the third raid from Trade Shop Company in sector 3. These call centres were functioning for the last one year" added Kumar.
Cops also conducted a raid at the fourth company, which operated a fake e-commerce website, and seized the premises after it was found to be closed.
