Noida: Gautam Buddh Nagar police on Sunday night arrested a 23-year-old cab driver in connection with the murder of a man whose decomposed body was found inside his cab on April 19.
According to police, the deceased was a security supervisor and also the owner of the cab. He was murdered by the arrested accused, identified as Ajay Sharma, as the owner of the cab had earlier tried to molest his wife. However, police also suspect the owner and the driver's wife of having an extra marital affair.
"The victim's family had accused the driver, Sharma, who drove a cab for the deceased, Lokendra Singh. Acting on a tip-off, Sharma was nabbed from ATS roundabout where he was waiting for a bus and was trying to flee from the district," said Pankaj Rai, Station House Officer of Surajpur Police station.
During interrogation, Sharma confessed to have committed the crime on April 17 as he wanted to take revenge from the supervisor. On April 15, Singh had allegedly tried to molest the wife of the cab driver, police said.
"Sharma told the police that when the cab driver's wife was alone at home, Singh allegedly entered the house and tried to touch her inappropriately and even molested her. When Sharma reached home, his wife told him about the assault. Following which when the two were going out on April 17, they both consumed alcohol at sector 108 and suddenly Sharma took out a wheel spanner and killed Singh in order to take revenge," said Rai.
On April 19, a decomposed body of the 35-year-old cab owner was found inside his car outside a society in sector 108, Noida.
Police said the man had gone missing on April 18 and suspected that he was murdered around 3 days ago and then dumped here. Singh was working as a supervisor in a security agency.
