Noida: In order to ensure proper disposal of plastic waste, the Noida authority, on Friday, installed a plastic bottle crushing machine at authority's office in sector 6 of Noida. Officials said that two more machines will also be installed at sector 29 and sector 18 markets in next few days.
The ribbon cutting ceremony was performed by authority Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Ritu Maheshwari in presence of other senior officials on Friday. Noida authority officials said that these machines have been procured under a company's corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative with HDFC bank. "The cost of installing each machine is Rs 2.25 lakh plus taxes imposed by central and state governments. These machines will crush plastic bottles so that they can be easily recycled. Through the new technique, we will be able to overcome nearly 85 per cent of the plastic waste and will help fighting environmental issues," said a senior officer of Noida authority.
The authority has planned to place these machines at three spots in the city.
"This is the first phase of installation of such machines and depending on the feedback from citizens more such machines will be installed across the city as per need," the officer added.
The authority will also assign responsibility to take out the left overs of the bottle which will be stored in the machines. The spots have been chosen by the authority keeping in mind the busiest markets in the city.
