New Delhi: Disowned by his parents after he married a girl from a different caste girl, 23-year-old Amit was in dire need of money to begin life as a family man.

As a result, he roped in two of his friends to commit theft at a store. But Amit immediately landed in jail as he and one of his friends were nabbed from Dwarka on Sunday. Police on Tuesday said the other accused has been identified as Shiv Shankar Pandey (21).

On August 31, the three youth broke into a general convenience store on and stole some cash, a bank passbook, some consumable items and an Maruti Alto car.

"The accused were arrested from Dwarka Sector-20 when they were roaming with the stolen car. The accused Amit had been arrested earlier in an attempt to murder case and had just released on bail," a police official said.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Dwarka) Anto Alphonse said that Amit had once been working with an online marketing company as a packer at its godown in Bamnoli.

During this time, he fell in love with a girl from a different caste and decided to marry her against the wishes of his parents and relatives.

After the marriage, Amit's parents disowned him and threw him out of their house.

"He started living on rent in Bijwasan, but was short of money to restart the family life. Hence, he roped in his co-worker Shiv Shankar Panday and another friend Shashi to commit theft for quick money."

"He emotionally appealed to them to help him getting some money to live separately on rent and commit a theft for this," said Alphonse.

The DCP added that Pandey is a second year BA at Allahabad University (Open Learning), and was working at the same godown as Amit as the computer operator for the company.

Though he has never been arrested earlier, he decided to help Amit due to his friendship and also for quick money for his own expenses.

Meanwhile, the third culprit Shashi is currently absconding, and is a mutual friend of the two arrested youth. The arrest was made by the team of Special Staff of Dwarka police.
