New Delhi: The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) is preparing a detailed report on the condition of the refugee children living at Majnu Ka Tila in North Delhi area. On Tuesday, the team of child rights body visited the spot. "After class 8, children living there have no options for further studies," said NCPCR official adding that during the visit a girl was found unhealthy, she had no option for treatment. The security of these children was also a reason for concern.
According to the official, they are making a detailed report on the refugee from the beginning when they came to India, how much they got help from governments and what is their way of earning. Yashwant Jain, member NCPCR told Millennium Post that a complaint was received after which team went to the camp for assessment. "A report is being prepared," said Jain.
During the visit, the NCPCR team found many flaws in the camp which includes poor hygienic condition, improper water facilities, bathrooms were in a poor state. The officials which include Yashwant Jain and Rosy Taba interacted with the kids.
The report may include the possibilities through which the lifestyle of these refugees can be changed. "Facilities like enhancing children education, linking with vocational schools can uplift the lifestyle of kids. All the possibilities will be explored," added NCPCR official. "We may send the report to the state and central government," added the official.
