NEW DELHI: A couple was found dead under mysterious circumstances at their residence in south east Delhi's Jamia Nagar on Saturday morning, with their bodies bearing no physical injury marks. Delhi Police are awaiting the post-mortem report to ascertain the cause of death.
Police said the bodies of 50-year-old Shamim Ahmed and his wife Taslim Bano were found by their son inside their home in Zakir Nagar locality of Jamia Nagar.
After the couple went to sleep around 11 pm on Friday night, their son retuned home around 2:30 am. Seeing that they were not responding to his knocking on the door, the son called his uncle fir help.
The two men then broke open the door, only to find the couple unconscious. They soon realised that Ahmed and Bano were declared.
"We do not know the cause of death right now. No external injury marks were seen on the bodies. We are awaiting the post-mortem report. Only after that something concrete could be said," a police official said.
Sources said that the couple was not on good terms with their daughter-in-law, who had reportedly not been staying with her in-laws and had filed criminal cases against them.
A forensic team also visited the spot and collected evidence from the crime scene. Though the deceased couple's son has not pointed fingers on anyone as a suspect yet, he has demanded a thorough probe in parents' mysterious death.
