Mentally unstable man thrashed by mob over suspicion of child-lifting

Faridabad: In a worrying trend where innocent people are being thrashed by a group of people on child lifting rumours is now extending to parts of the national capital region. After a woman was thrashed by a angry crowd in Ghaziabad, this time it was a mentally unstable person in Faridabad, who was beaten by a group of people on Thursday night.

The incident occurred in village Bhankpur.

According to law enforcement officials, the state of the victim was such that he does not know even his name and his address.

It was this mental inability of the victim which resulted in him being beaten black and blue by the villagers who suspected that he was a child lifter who had come into the village to commit the

crime.

As of now, no case is being registered in the matter and the Faridabad police are trying to ascertain the identity of the victim.

"We request that people should refrain from believing in false narratives relating to child lifting stories. We will be stern on those people who spread such fake news and also who indulge in the violence," said a senior police official from Faridabad
