New Delhi: A 19-year-old is battling for life, after she was thrown off the second floor of a building by a man when she refused to marry him. Police said on Tuesday they have arrested the accused.
According to police, on late December 31 night, a call was received that a girl was admitted to hospital after falling from the roof of the residence of one Sahil Khan, the accused.
Based on her mother's statement, a case under Section 307 of IPC was registered at Karol Bagh police station.
Within hours, cops arrested Khan and produced him before a court. "The girl is still critical and in ICU. The investigation of the case is in progress," police said.
Sources claimed that the two had become acquainted with each other a long time ago, through Facebook. On the night of the incident, the man had called the girl to his residence asked her to marry him. But she replied that her parents will decide her marriage.
"Infuriated by her rejection, the accused threw her from the roof of his apartment," said a police source.
Moreover, the accused had a criminal history, and had been involved in kidnapping cases when he was juvenile.
