Man succumbs to gunshot injury

New Delhi: A 30-year-old man died after he sustained a gunshot injury in north west Delhi's Burari on Sunday. The deceased, identified as Suresh, was a resident of Samta Vihar. He sustained a gunshot injury on the left side of his chest and was declared dead on arrival by a hospital in Burari where he was rushed for treatment, a senior officer said.

Postmortem has been conducted and the body has been handed over to his family, he added. Suresh is survived by three daughters and a son. Cause of the alleged killing is not known yet. However, police have picked up certain suspects who are being interrogated, the officer said. Police are probing all angles to ascertain the motive behind the incident. A case has been registered and further investigation is underway.

In another incident in Vijay Nagar area, three men were allegedly thrashed and were threatened with a pistol by a group of men after they objected against them for passing vulgar comments on their female friend, who is a member of a student union. Police received a call about the quarrel at 12:29 am at Model Town police station. Based on statements and CCTV footage, teams were formed to nab the accused involved in the act.
