New Delhi: A 31-year-old man was shot dead by his neighbour in Karol Bagh area on Saturday late night. Police said that they have arrested the killer and solved the case within 24 hours. Police identified the accused as Kamal Chauhan (32).
The weapon of offence one country-made pistol along with two live cartridges has been recovered. One Rajender Singh reported that on the intervening night of 08-09 June, his son Mohit was shot by his neighbour by a pistol nearby his house and escaped.
The injured was shifted to BLK Hospital where he was declared brought dead.
Deceased's family member said that Mohit was going to chemist shop with her daughter when the accused shot him. "Mohit's father tried to catch him but Kamal fled," added family member.
Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central) Amit Sharma said that the accused has one previous case against him and he was absconding from his house after the incident.
The accused Kamal Chauhan was arrested from the area of Narela Industrial Area in the afternoon of Sunday while he was trying to flee from Delhi to Jharkhand in his car.
"The accused revealed that he and the deceased were close friends but some trivial issues were raised between them sometime before. On the day of the incident, a heated argument took place between them and the accused shot the deceased with his pistol in an alley near the house and flee from the spot," police
said.
The accused Chauhan has a manufacturing unit of jeans in Narela Industrial area.
