Man kills wife for suspected infidelity, arrested by police

New Delhi: Delhi Police on Tuesday claimed that they have arrested a person who killed his wife after beating her with a small cylinder in North West Delhi's Adarsh Nagar area. The investigating agency claimed that the accused suspected that she had committed adultery.

Police identified the accused as Sunil Sharma who lives with his family in North West Delhi's Adarsh Nagar area. He runs a food stall owner in Lal Bagh area.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (North-West) Aslam Khan said that a PCR call was received at around 2.30 am on Tuesday regarding the death of a woman. The PCR call was made by the husband himself who had hit his wife with a small cylinder while she was sleeping.

The police team reached the spot and found that the husband too was injured and later the investigation revealed that he also tried to hurt himself. "The accused is fine now…. He doubted her for adultery which led to the incident," said the DCP.

Police said that both of them were rushed to a nearby hospital where the woman was declared "brought dead" as she had severe head injuries while the accused sustained minor injuries and was discharged after first aid. The couple have a four-year-old daughter who was sleeping with her grandmother in a nearby house.

In another incident, a girls body was found inside a bag in two pieces in South-East Delhi's Nizamuddin area. Police registered a murder case and detained a person in this regard. The police team was alerted through a PCR call and when they reached the spot they found bag where the body was found stuffed in the black bag.

DCP (South East) Chinmoy Biswal claimed that after opening the bag they found that the girl was cut into two pieces. "Her head was chopped off and then stuffed in the bag. We have detained one person in this regard. Questioning is on," said the DCP.
