With the arrest of one person, the Delhi Police claimed that they have solved the murder case of a fisherman who was found strangulated near Nilothi Village in Outer Delhi. The cops arrested his colleague Manoj on Sunday. The accused had killed the deceased after the latter refused to return his money.
The incident came took place on March 16 when the police had received a PCR call informing them that a man's body was found near a canal located at Nilothi Village in Outer Delhi. He was identified as Sunil Mehto after the local swimmers fished him out of the canal. After his family was contacted, they remained clueless about the accused. Later, the cops questioned his colleagues and found that his motorcycle was missing. Further, his colleague, Manoj was also missing.
After enquiring about Manoj, the police sent a team to his native village in Bihar's Nalanda village. "The team disguised themselves as bank officials and collected information about Manoj. Later, they found that Manoj had returned to the Capital just a few days ago. After questioning his colleagues his location was ascertained and was arrested from Nilothi Extension area on Sunday," said a senior police official.
During the interrogation, Manoj revealed that on the day of the incident, both of them were drunk when they got into an argument. The feud turned ugly when Sunil refused to pay back Manoj Rs 2000 that the former had lent out. Following this, Manoj strangulated him to death. Also, he threw Sunil's body and motorcycle in the canal. our correspondent
