Man involved in more than 100 snatching cases arrested from Dwarka's Matiala
NEW DELHI: Delhi Police on Sunday arrested a notorious snatcher who is involved in at least 100 snatching cases in Dwarka and its nearby areas. The snatcher has been out from the jail and resorted to usual business but was nabbed by the special staff of Ranhola police station.
After some recent snatching cases in Ranhola area, cops formed several teams to arrest the accused but on August 2 police received information that a snatcher, auto-lifter of deceased Naveen Dogra's gang member is roaming on a stolen motorcycle in Matiala area.
Acting swiftly on the information, a trap was laid and a suspected bike was stopped for checking at about 8 PM near Matiala chowk. The accused tried to flee from the spot by taking a sharp U-turn but fell on the road and was apprehended by the police team.
During the interrogation, he was identified as Pramod, a resident of Ranhola.
"Accused Pramod is a permanent resident of Delhi. Earlier, he used to work as Ola cab driver for a few months but his entire earnings were consumed by drugs as he was into drugs, liquor, smack etc.
"To cater for money, he started thieving and chain snatchings in Dwaraka districts along with the top snatcher Naveen Dogra. However, the accused was earlier being arrested for several times whenever he used to go out on snatching sprees," said DCP Dwarka Anto Alphonse.
After Dogra's death due to the drug overdose, he planned to revive the gang and was out to collect high-speed motorcycles. On August 30, he stole one Bajaj Pulsar 220cc for high-speed sprees.
Pramod is a high-speed biker and can ride at a speed of more than 150-kmph which helps him to disappear in seconds from snatching spots before any complainants or victims could catch his glimpse.
