NEW DELHI: A man committed suicide by setting himself on fire in north west Delhi's Rani Bagh area.
Police said the victim is yet to be identified and no suicide note was recovered from his possession or anywhere at the spot so far.
According to police, the incident was reported around 6 pm on Saturday from Shakur Basti railway line, where the victim reached the spot, poured some inflammable substance on himself and set himself on fire.
After a PCR call was made by people in the area, police reached the spot and took the victim to a nearby hospital, where he was declared brought dead.
Police said there were no clues about the victim's identity and they are conducting an investigation to know his whereabouts.
When asked whether there was any foul play involved, a senior police official stated that prima facie evidence suggests it is a case of suicide. "We are investigating the case from all angles," said the officer.
People at the spot are being questioned to find clues about the victim's identity.
A team from Rani Bagh police station has begun its investigation, with some sources claiming that the youth might have beem a Sikh.
