Ghaziabad: Police on Wednesday said a 25-year-old man was found murdered inside his rented accommodation in Kavi Nagar area of Ghaziabad, with his family members accusing his wife and her paramour of the murder.

According to police, the deceased has been identified as Shivam, a native of Mahendra Enclave who worked as a delivery boy.

His body was recovered from his locked room and police suspect he was murdered a few days ago.

"Residents of the area felt a foul smell coming out of the locked room and alerted police. A team reached the spot and the lock was broken in presence of other residents and family members of the deceased.

"Upon opening, we found the body of a young man lying in the room with his throat slit and head crushed with an heavy object. We immediately sent the body for post-mortem," said Atish Kumar Singh, Circle Officer-II, Ghaziabad.

Shivam's family members said that around a year ago, he had a love marriage with a woman from his neighbourhood.

However, the couple often had quarrels over petty issues, which culminated into them filing for divorce at a court in Ghaziabad.

The kin added that the wife also had an extra-marital relationship, which soured her marriage with Shivam.

The family alleged she murdered Shivam with her lover's help, and then fled.

"Based on the complaint received from the victim's side, we have registered an FIR in the case and are questioning the wife and her family members," added Singh.

Meanwhile, locals said that Shivam was habitual drinker, which his wife opposed strongly. A resident claimed that a few days ago, the wife had left Shivam to go live with her parents.

The victim's parents and other family members live in same locality in a separate house
