New Delhi: A 20-year-old man was brutally stabbed in a park on Sunday in south Delhi by two men, one of them an Afghan national.
Delhi Police received the information through a PCR call at Malviya Nagar Police Station.
The victim was identified as Faiz Ali (20), son of Asaf Ali, resident of Khirki Extension, Delhi, and the accused were identified as Kaifi Malik and Harun. The accused Harun is from Afghanistan.
According to the police, the victim and a young woman were peacefully sitting in the park when they were confronted by Kaifi Malik, the girl’s brother, and his friend Harun.
The assailants inquired about the victim’s presence with his sister and demanded to check his mobile phone for call records. When the victim refused to comply with their demands, Kaifi Malik and Harun resorted to violence, stabbing the victim multiple times in the shoulders, back, and hand. Following the brutal attack, the attackers fled the scene.
The victim was immediately rushed to the hospital, and the police have since initiated an investigation into the incident.
The Malviya Nagar Police swiftly responded to the PCR call and registered an FIR under Section 307/34 of the Indian Penal Code.
In a significant development, one of the suspects, Harun, has already been apprehended. The police are currently conducting a search operation to locate and arrest the other accused, Kaifi Malik.
The victim is currently receiving medical treatment for his injuries. His condition is stable, and he is expected to recover, but the trauma of the incident is likely to have a lasting impact on him and those who witnessed the attack.
Local residents and community leaders have called for increased vigilance and security measures in public spaces to prevent such incidents from occurring again.
The police have assured the public that they are making every effort to locate Kaifi Malik and bring him to justice.
