New Delhi: A 29-year-old man was beaten to death inside a drug de-addiction centre in South East Delhi's Tughlakabad Extension on Monday. Police claimed that the deceased had passed stool, which created the foul smell. Enraged with this the caretaker thrashed him with a wooden rod.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (South East) Chinmoy Biswal stated that they received a call around 6:34 am on Tuesday about murder in Tughlakabad Extension. On reaching spot the investigating officer found a body lying on the ground floor with multiple contusions on the lower part of the body and some drops of blood were lying nearby. "The place was identified as a drug de-addiction centre named Jeevan Raksha Foundation. The deceased was identified as Amit Bidhuri a resident of Madanpur Khadar," said the DCP.
Revealing further details in the case the senior officer claimed that on Monday night the caretaker identified as Sumit Arora (30) came along with two unknown friends to the institute in a drunk situation around 11 pm. He then abused all inmates and beat some of them. "He saw the victim lying on the ground. Amit was in a drunken stupor and was lying on the ground. He passed stool which created foul smell which enraged the Arora," added the senior officer.
He further stated that the caretaker then started beating the victim with a wooden rod. After beating the victim, Arora then slept on the nearby bed. In the morning when accused awoke he realised that victim had died and so he ran from the spot. Amit was kept in a room under the guidance of the accused, who, a month ago, was like Amit and was admitted there by his family members. A week back, after his rehabilitation course was complete, he, like many others, took up the job of a caretaker. He was in the same room as Amit's and was watching over him. "At 6:30 in the morning the owner and manager was called by the inmates. He then called the police. A case has been registered u/s 302 IPC and investigation is ongoing," he added.
