Left in the lurch, Gr Noida home buyers to hold programme with legal experts

Update: 2017-03-10 18:11 GMT
Harassed by builders, snubbed by authority and the government, home buyers of Greater Noida West are now seeking legal advice to claim for justice. The home buyers are being harassed by the builders for a long time now over delay in possession and poor construction quality. They are now planning to organise an interaction programme with a panel of legal experts to discuss their problems with them and get their problems sorted out.

Greater Noida West is a hub of residential property spaces. Over two lakh people invested their lifetime savings to buy their dream homes but they didn't know that it will turn into a bog of builders' falsity and malpractices. Many builders of the area fled leaving thousands of hopes behind while those present are unable to carry out the construction work at their sites. In the end, the buyers are at the receiving ends who are suffering with the dual burden of EMIs of those flats as well as the rent of the houses they are staying in.

"It's been long that we are fighting for justice. It is really shameful on the part of the administration and the authority that thousands of people are constantly fighting to get justice even after having the rights to get it. We have been through several hardships since years and have approached all such respected persons whom we considered to get help from. Now, we are left with no hopes besides taking legal actions against those who have breached our rights, whether it is a builder or the authority," said Indrish Gupta, Founder, Noida Extension Flat Owner's Welfare Association (NEFOWA).

"On March 19, we are organising an interaction programme with the panel of advocates who will suggest us the right step to be taken against the harassment done to us. We will not excuse even a single person who is responsible for our condition. The panel comprises advocates from NCDRC, National Consumer Forum, EOW, CCI, High Court and Supreme Court. We will discuss with them our issues such as delay in possession, slow construction, huge extra charges and poor construction quality.

Their advice will be followed by us to take legal actions against such builders who have cheated us," added Gupta.
