NEW DELHI: The Bar Council of Delhi will be holding a demonstration at India Gate on November 15 (Friday) in the wake of the clashes between the police and lawyers earlier this
month.
Mahavir Sharma, Chairman and Dhir Singh Kasana, Coordination Committee Secretary-General, Bar Council of Delhi said that the lawyers will carry out a march from India Gate to the residence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah to handover a representation to him. Sharma had said that the lawyers' strike would continue across all
districts.
Lawyers in Delhi district courts continued to abstain from work on Wednesday, demanding the arrest of the policemen who allegedly fired at their colleagues during a clash that took place in early November.
The lawyers expressed dissatisfaction over the reluctance by Delhi Police to arrest its men for firing citing judicial inquiry.
Meanwhile, no consensus was reached in several meetings between Delhi Police and lawyers in the city.
The tension between police personnel and lawyers had been building up since November 2 when a clash over a parking dispute led to at least 20 security personnel and several advocates being injured at Tis Hazari
court.
