Gurugram: Gurugram Police on Monday apprehended accused Mahipal's mother and maternal uncle for questioning. Mahipal had contacted these two people after shooting judge's wife and son. According to sources, he had requested them to help his family flee from Gurugram. The two were detained from Rewari which is on the outskirts of Gurugram. There are reports that the villagers are critical of the move by the police as Mahipal's mother is diabetic and requires constant monitoring.
Even after 48 hours of Mahipal's arrest, the district police has still not been able to ascertain the real motive for the 32-year-old sacked constable to take such an extreme step. Various theories are floating around behind the heinous crime committed by him. Some consider Mahipal was depressed while others claim angles of occult practices as the main motive. The law enforcement officials are also looking into the claims that whether Mahipal was being exploited by judge's family.
What is adding to more difficulty is the continuous change of statements by the accused who according to sources is still adopting an aggressive and stubborn approach towards the investigators. The district police still has three days of his remand where they are trying to bring in more clarity in the case. Meanwhile, Ritu wife of Judge Krishnakant was cremated in her hometown Hissar in the evening while Dhruv the other victim is still in a critical state.
On Saturday afternoon, he openly fired gunshots at Judge Sharma's wife and his 18-year-old son. What has however been more shocking is the behaviour exhibited by him during the course of this entire incident and even during interrogation. To begin with, he openly expressed his anger towards Judge's son Dhruv and his mother after shooting them and even cursed them in front of hundreds of bystanders who were shell-shocked by the entire incident that was transpiring in front of them. He later fled from the spot but was arrested from Gurugram-Faridabad road.
