Noida: Fours persons, including a Jeweller, have been arrested by Gautam Buddh Nagar police in connection with the 1kg gold robbery incident that took place earlier in the month in phase-II police station area of Noida. Police officials said that the accused persons have looted nearly a kilogram of gold and have sold the gold to a jeweller for Rs 30 lakhs. Police have recovered Rs 30 lakhs and 400 gms gold from possession of accused persons.
According to police, the arrested persons were identified as Vikas (23), Bhupendra (32), Israr (22) and Ashwini (26), all natives of Dadri area in Greater Noida. Cops said that Ashwini is a jeweller and runs a jewellery shop in Dadri area.
Vaibhav Krishna, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Gautam Buddh Nagar gold reporters that the accused persons were caught while distributing the robbery amount among themselves.
"The arrest was made from Dadri area of Greater Noida when the accused persons were distributing the robbery amount. Upon interrogating them, it came to light that Vikas, was the main person who planned robbery and involved his two friends Bhupendra and Israr. Vikas worked at a automobile parts manufacturing company in NSEZ of Noida when he came to know about the movement of two employees of Divya creation company in NSEZ who were ferrying gold in a car to another company's branch in Okhla," said Krishna.
"Vikas came to know about the gold from the dispatch counter of NSEZ where they maintain a record of all the goods which is being taken out of the company. He remained stood at the main Gate and soon as the two employees left company with gold, he informed his accomplices who began following them. The employees stopped a car to purchase a pan masala from shop and forgot to take off the car's key. The duo of accused came to the car and one of them fled with the car while another travelled on their motorcycle. They later left the car at a secluded spot and fled away taking gold which they later sold to Ashwini for Rs 30 lakhs," added Krishna.
The officer further said that the accused will be produced before the court and will be sent to jail.
