Jaguar patrolling team giving bootleggers sleepless nights

New Delhi: The newly-formed patrolling team of 80 police personnel named 'Jaguar' is going hard against the criminals and illegal activities like drug and liquor trafficking in the area. Recently, the team recovered 60 cartons of illicit liquor from the Dabri area of Dwarka District during patrolling on July 23.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Dwarka) Anto Alphonse stated that the team received secret information about the liquor. During the patrolling, constable Pardeep spotted a person who was carrying a carton to his house from the cartons which were kept in front of another house in JJ Colony Bindapur. He was stopped by the police personnel and after enquiry, it revealed that the cartons contained illicit liquor. "The accused identified as Karan (28) was arrested. He was using a house as a godown for the illicit liquor," said the DCP. In another case, Dabri police arrested two persons and recovered 140 cartons of illicit liquor from a Tata Maximo.

In order to reclaim public spaces from anti-social elements, the team is monitoring parks and other places in the district. Recently, they nabbed three auto-lifters including two juveniles from Najafgarh area. Both juveniles are active criminals and had spent time in the juvenile home twice. The other accused, Shyam, is a drug addict and has a criminal history.
