New Delhi: For the Delhi Fire Services (DFS), it was a tough job to take out both the workers from the tank in North West Delhi's Keshavpuram area. The DFS said that during the rescue operation, they had to crawl inside the tank to reach out to both the persons trapped over there.
According to DFS official Ashok Kumar Jaiswal, when the fire personnel tried to get inside with their equipment, they get also stuck. "The tank was so small that with oxygen cylinder, fire personnel could not be able to get inside," said Jaiswal. He further said that the whole rescue operation took more than one hour.
"Later, with the help of equipment, we broke the tank wall. Once it was broken, some toxic gas was released," said Jaiswal.
He further added that with the help of oxygen masks, which they took from an ambulance, they went inside the tank.
"It was a total risk for the fire personnel who was going inside. We tied belt on his waist to make sure if he get unconscious after inhaling poisonous gas inside they can pull him out quickly," added the fire official.
He further said that at first, they tried to go inside wearing clothes in the face but it didn't work well.
"The rescue was very much tough just because there was confined space inside the tank. When the fire personnel went inside, he tied the rope on both the workers and they were taken out," added the official.
The DFS tried everything for the earliest rescue but the situation was not cordial.
"We were seeing the victims lying unconscious but we were not able to get inside. The walls were made of concrete, it took time to break," said Kumar.
