'Internet Protocol' cameras to guard posh markets this I-day

New Delhi: Enhancing the security arrangement for the upcoming Independence Day, the Delhi Police had installed 'Internet Protocol' cameras which are guarding the markets of South-East Delhi. Police claimed that they have also increased security and round the clock patrolling is going on. According to police, the cameras were installed in Nehru Place and Lajpat Nagar markets which have high footfalls and not only Delhiites but also foreign tourists visit these places to purchase things; so taking security in view, Internet Protocol' cameras have been installed.

"The IP cameras will help police to keep track on the movements. The cameras can be linked with the phone through which the officers can keep a tab on both the markets," added the officer.

Apart from the high feature cameras, the city police also held meetings with RWAs and market associations where they also favoured installing of cameras which will be for their safety. "There are private cameras which were installed by the markets," said the officer. Police stated that they have made proper control rooms and the policemen who are specialized in scanning CCTVs are monitoring them.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (South East) Chinmoy Biswal stated that cameras play important role in the policing as it acts as the multiplier to the force. "We have made proper arrangements for the Independence Day and policemen are keeping a tab on every suspicious movement," added the DCP. Machans and different types of patrolling are going on in the district.
