New Delhi: Delhi Police on Sunday said that they have arrested a 19-year-old woman who threw chemical on her boyfriend in West Delhi area. Police said that the boyfriend wanted to break up the relation but the accused wanted to marry him. Police said that on June 11, at about 4 pm, an information was received from DDU Hospital in Police Station Vikas Puri, that one person has been admitted with burns on his right side face, neck chest. The victim informed that he along with his female friend was coming back from Alipur on his scooty someone hurled some hot substance on him, causing burn injuries to him. His friend was also sustained minor burn injuries.
"Initially, it was not clear what has been thrown on the victims. Prima facie it appeared that someone has done this to take revenge or threaten female friend," police said.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Monika Bharadwaj stated that the behaviour of victims' friend was found suspicious. Initially, the
complainant was little apprehensive and was not cooperating in the investigation. "Complainant was counselled again and he informed that just before the incident, he was asked by his girlfriend to remove the helmet, as it was disturbing her. Moments after he removed his helmet, someone hurled some hot substance on his face," added DCP West.
The woman was interrogated several times and she broke down and confessed her guilt. "On interrogation accused disclosed that she was in a relationship with the victim for the last three years. However, the complainant was insisting on break up, whereas she was adamant on marrying him. She decided to throw some chemical on his face to deface him and leaving him no other choice, except to marry her," added police.
DCP West as soon as the helmet was removed the woman threw acid. She disclosed that she committed the offence as she wanted to marry the victim and she was confident that the victim will not have any suspicion on her.
