Gurugram: A 22-year-old woman staying at Emaar Residency hotel in Sector-45 of Gurugram was raped by the hotel's brand manager on Sunday, with Gurugram Police saying on Thursday that the accused has been arrested. The woman and her husband have been living in the hotel for the past month.
The accused Raghav was arrested from his home in Sohna's Ghamroj village and an FIR under Section 376 (rape) of the IPC was registered.
In her complaint, the woman stated that for the past month she and her husband used to book a room in the same hotel every day through the OYO Rooms app.
At 5.25 pm Sunday, the couple made a fresh booking and met the hotel's manager Vikrant at his cabin, during which Raghav was also present.
As the woman was ill, she stayed alone in the room, while her husband went out for work.
Around 9 pm, Raghav came to her room, saying that she had to move to a different room and also offered to help in shifting, but the woman refused.
Around 11 pm, Raghav again knocked at her door, but was sent back again by the woman, who told to wait till her husband came back.
At 11.45 pm, Raghav again knocked her door. Expecting her husband, the woman opened the door, but Raghav forcibly entered the room. This time, the woman fell down because of her illness.
When the woman regained consciousness, she found the room empty and realised that Raghav had raped her.
She immediately called Raghav for questioning, who initially denied the accusation.
However, he soon caved in and admitted to the crime after she threatened him with a police complaint.
In its report, police stated that the accused confessed to the crime and will be produced before a city court on Thursday.
Soon after the matter came to light, Ritesh Agarwal, CEO, OYO Rooms, tweeted on Thursday, "Deeply saddened by the unfortunate incident at Hotel Emaar Residency. As the matter is under investigation,we and our hotel partner are cooperating with the authorities to ensure justice for the victim. We firmly stand by our values of treating everyone with compassion & respect."
