Gzb police to impose NSA for sharing any objectionable posts on social media
Ghaziabad: In the view of Holi festival, Ghaziabad police have decided to impose NSA on those who will make or share any objectionable posts on social media sites against any community.
Cops said that the city cyber department will gather intelligence inputs and report to the concerned police department will be sent if any objectionable posts are found on social sites.
Kalanidhi Naithani, SSP of Ghaziabad police said that each team comprises ten cops from the cyber cell along with police officials.
"We will be monitoring all social media platforms to ensure they are not misused to spread rumours, create tension between religions groups or hatred speeches to incite violence. We will book and arrest the offenders who attempt to disrupt law and order. Later NSA may be imposed on them if anyone will try to disturb the peace in district," Naithani said.
A senior officer from Ghaziabad cyber cell said that police have been given certain keywords that they will use to identify troublemakers. "We have identified some individuals who were indulged in such activities in the past," said the officer.
"Police team is monitoring over a hundred Facebook and Instagram accounts. Even a separate team has been formed who will keep a close watch on few suspicious whatsapp groups," he added. "Ghaziabad police is not going to take any chance after what happened in Delhi a few days back. Some of the residents have no option and they have left the city and have moved to their relatives and friends' house in another cities," said a senior Ghaziabad police officer.
The SSP also clarified that the special team will not look into individual opinions or political comments on various issues. "Our monitoring will be restricted strictly to the posts having potential to incite violence or spread communal hatred and to control the spread of fake news," he said.
