Ghaziabad: A Ghaziabad based man, who was married around six years ago, has accused his wife and her parents of extorting money from him and thrashing his parents.
The man also alleged that the woman was already married at the time of their marriage.
Manish Kumar (30), a resident of cosmos society in crossing republic area of Ghaziabad, told police that he married one Kavita, a native of Palam area in Delhi on April 24, 2014.
"Things were good initially and in April 2015 we also had a son. However, soon after having the son, Kavita started demanding money from me and threatened to implicate a police case against me. I gave her Rs 1 lakh 20 thousand and she continued to demand more money which I had to fulfil," said Manish in his complaint.
"In June 2019, I received a payment of Rs 5 lakhs of which Kavita was also aware. She shared the information with her parents and on June 10, her mother Ramrati came to our house and demanded money. I refused to their demands and went on my work in Haryana. Later in the evening, I received a call from my father that Kavita and her parents have thrashed my elderly parents and took away cash and jewellery from the house," Manish further said.
Manish further alleged that one of Kavita's relative told him that she was already married at the time of their marriage.
"Her parents told me that they will return the money once I hand over my son to them but they didn't fulfil their promise and also took my son. One of her relatives told me that Kavita was married to a delhi Based man in 2011 and got divorced in 2016. I was shocked to hear that as she had never told me about this. When I asked her about this, she told me that they used to dupe people this way and threatened me with dire consequences if I try to contact them again," said Manish.
Meanwhile police have booked four persons in connection with the case.
"Based on the complaint received, an FIR under section 323, 504, 506, 392 and 494 of IPC has been registered against three named and an unidentified person. We are trying to verify the allegations and will make arrest soon," a senior police officer
