Gurugram: As the cases of people getting infected by the Coronavirus are increasing by the day, fear in Gurugram does not seem to be withering down. The adverse impact of fear and caution is being felt in the most industries of Gurugram. The most noticeable impact has been felt in the IT Enable Services (ITES) firms whose management has not shied away from taking drastic measures.
Most of the companies in addition to Paytm have shut their offices for two weeks and have advised their employees to work from home. Those companies that are working also are operational with low manpower. It is important to note that most of the IT firms located in the city have their business interests in outside countries.
Southeast Asia that has been badly affected by the COVID-19 virus is one of the major trading partners and there are a lot of IT executives who are also based in the city. These executives have also been advised in internal communication to restrict their movement and stay indoors. Unlike reports from Noida, Gurugam has taken drastic steps on the workers and expats but have begun to take several precautionary measures to make sure that the disease does not spread. Most of the multinational companies in the city have already prohibited the use of biometric machines in their headquarters.
According to sources, most of the IT firms are working with 20 percent less manpower. The situation in Gurugram is also warranted taking into the consideration that over 400 persons working or residing in the city have been asked to be quarantined. This is owing to their coming in contact in one form or another with the two patients who was working in Gurugram and have been found positive with the coronavirus.
Over 30 health teams have already been constituted by the state government to prevent the coronavirus outbreak. Leading the way however, have been various corporates who have devised ways to sanitise their workplace areas along with having processes to monitor their employees.
